Big Sister / Big Brother Preparation Class

This class is intended for children ages 2+ who are soon to become a big brother or sister. This class emphasizes the sibling’s new role as a big brother or sister. Children must be accompanied by an adult and are encouraged to bring a doll or stuffed animal.

In this class siblings will:

• Learn about the characteristics of a newborn

• Learn how to safely engage with a newborn & how they can be helpful to parents, bolstering the sibling’s confidence.

• Learn about how family dynamic might change, in age appropriate language & explanation

• Discuss hospital visits : if you are not giving birth in a hospital please let us know so we can amend context.

• Read a book about preparing for the newborn (this month’s book is Cathryn Falwell’s “The Nesting Quilt”

• Enjoy our library of Big Sibling books

• Children will participate in an age appropriate arts & crafts activity

• Snack will be provided
